THE PROJECT

The Piece is a furniture brand specialising in modular, tile-based designs that can be customised and reconfigured. The brand needed to reflect the hands-on, design-led nature of the product — something bold, playful, and visually distinctive, while still feeling considered and well-crafted.

The brief was to create a brand identity that celebrated customisation and creativity, using strong visual systems to mirror how each piece is built.

VISUAL DIRECTION

The visual direction is bold, modular, and unapologetically playful. Custom typography was designed to feel constructed from individual blocks, directly referencing the tiled structure of the furniture. A thick white outline acts as visual “grout,” holding the letterforms together and reinforcing the tile concept throughout the identity.

A high-contrast, retro-inspired colour palette brings energy and personality to the brand, using vibrant tones to create instant recognition and visual impact. Grid-based layouts and sticker-style illustrations support the idea of assembly and customisation, giving the brand a tactile, hands-on feel across both digital and physical touchpoints.
